NEP 2020 & FYUGP Guidelines

Comprehensive Guide for Session 2024-2028

The 4-Year Journey (FYUGP Structure)

Based on Govt. of Jharkhand Notification, the new curriculum offers multiple entry and exit points:

Semester 1-2 (Year 1) UG Certificate
Exit Requirement: 40 Credits + 4 Credits Vocational/Internship.
Semester 3-4 (Year 2) UG Diploma
Exit Requirement: 80 Credits + 4 Credits Vocational/Internship.
Semester 5-6 (Year 3) Bachelor’s Degree
120 Credits. Mandatory Internship of 4 credits required.
Semester 7-8 (Year 4) Honours with Research / Honours
160 Credits. Research stream requires 7.5 CGPA minimum.

Subjects & Course Structure

Your academic basket is now multidisciplinary. A semester includes:

  • Major (MJ): Your core subject (e.g., History, Physics).
  • Minor (MN): A secondary subject to support your major.
  • MDC (Multidisciplinary): A subject from a completely different stream.
  • AEC (Ability Enhancement): Language papers (Hindi/English).
  • SEC (Skill Enhancement): Digital Education and Computer Basics.
  • VAC (Value Added): Yoga, Understanding India, Environmental Studies.

Grading & Passing Criteria

Evaluation is based on a 10-point Grading System (O to F).

  • Passing Marks: You need a minimum SGPA of 4.0 to pass a semester.
  • Internal Exam: 25 Marks (20 Written + 5 Attendance).
  • External Exam: 75 Marks.
  • Promotion Rule: Move from Odd (1,3,5) to Even (2,4,6) is automatic. To move to next YEAR, you must pass 50% of credits.

ABC ID Registration is Mandatory

As per NEP 2020 guidelines, every student must create an Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) ID.

Examination & Evaluation Pattern

The marking scheme for Theory papers (100 Marks Total):

Component Marks Details
Internal Assessment 25 Marks 20 Marks (Written Test) + 5 Marks (Attendance/Conduct). Duration: 1 Hour.
End Semester Exam 75 Marks University conducted external exam. Duration: 3 Hours.
Practical Papers 100 Marks Evaluated by 1 External & 1 Internal Examiner.

4-Year Honours with Research

Eligibility & Infrastructure requirements for Departments:

  • Departments offering "Honours with Research" must have at least 2 Ph.D. faculty members.
  • Required infrastructure: Library journals, Computer labs, and Experimental labs.
  • Students need 7.5 CGPA or 75% marks in first 3 years to opt for Research stream.

Attendance Marks Distribution

Guidelines for awarding the 5 marks for attendance/conduct:

  • < 45%: 1 Mark
  • 45% - 55%: 2 Marks
  • 55% - 65%: 3 Marks
  • 65% - 75%: 4 Marks
  • > 75%: 5 Marks
